Your Home Heating Services
The more your furnace operates, the more your heating & air conditioning system's efficiency becomes important.
  • What to Look For In A Heating System

When it's time for a new heating system there are many factors to consider. Here are a few tips:
How cold is your climate and how much of the time do you need heating?

The more your furnace operates, the more your heating & air conditioning system's efficiency becomes important.

Is your current equipment a forced air furnace or a boiler?

We strongly recommend replacing your heating system with the same type of heating system. You could incur additional expenses in replacing or adding additional duct work. Remember, gas furnaces use duct work while boilers transfer heat by sending hot water through pipes.

Proper humidification reduces heating costs by stopping wood shrinkage, which reduces cold air infiltration around door and window frames. In turn, you'll feel warm at lower temperature. You can actually dial down your thermostat and still be comfortable. In cases where excessive dry air has been the cause of physical aggravations, doctors have prescribed whole-house humidification. Furnishing are protected with proper humidity too -- reducing the damaging effects of heated parched air upon everything from your wood floors to your house plants.
Why Is Indoor Air Quality Important?

Studies have shown that the concentrations of hazardous pollutants are often higher indoors than out-of-doors. As construction methods responded to the increasing costs of energy, modern buildings have reduced levels of "leakage" or infiltration of fresh air. Homes or buildings with tighter construction are more efficient to operate. This enegy efficiency comes with a trade-off, less fresh air in the building. Reductions of fresh air exchanges results in a building or home with "stale" air.

Studies have shown that 70% of all indoor air quality problems involve the HVAC sytem, and that most are due to inadequate care and maintenance of the central air system. The air ducts, which are the "lungs" of a home or building can accumulate deposits of household dust, dirt, cigarette tar, smoke, insects, animal hair and dander and other airborne polluntants. Dirty air ducts can also become an ideal breeding ground for mold spores, mildew, pollen, and bacterial colonies.

Cleaning the air ducts system can eliminate or lessen the levels of contaminates. Neglecting this critical system can be a gross oversight in combating the indoor AR quality in your home.

MORE FACTS ABOUT INDOOR AIR QUALITY...

Did you know?
  • 9 out of 10 heating, ventilating and air conditioning system failures are caused by dirt and dust (LCES).
  • Clean systems restore capacity and lessen running time. This means savings on your monthly heating/cooling bills. (LCES).
  • A buildup of .042 inches of dirt on a heating or cooling coil can result in a decrease in efficiency of 21% (EPA).
  • 50% of all illnesses are either caused or aggravated by polluted indoor air (American College of Allergists).
  • 1 out of 6 people who suffer from allergies do so as direct result of the fungi and bacteria in air duct system. (Total Health and Better Health Magazines).
  • Children are more likely than adults to be affected by polluted indoor air. They breathe faster, inhale more air per unit body weight and are closer to the ground where constructions are higher. (Department of Consumer Affairs).
  • Most people spend 90% of their time indoors.
Getting the Most Efficiency From Your Humidifier

Proper Humidity -

Proper humidity reduces heating costs by stopping wood shrinkage, which reduces cold air infiltration around your door and window frames.

In turn, you'll feel warm at lower temperatures. You can actually dial down your thermostat and still be comfortable.

Doctors often mention dry air as one of the causes for nose, throat and other breathing aggravations.

Aprilaire Humidifiers -

All Aprilaire humidifers utilize natures own process -- the introduction of humidity in the form of water vapor. Dry, thirtsty air is forced through the Water Panel evaporator and the now humidified air carrying water as a vapor is distributed throughout your home.

Proper Humidity Furnished By Aprilaire Means -
